CHILD LABOUR

I went to Sunday bazaar with my friends and teachers where I saw many beautiful things but I also saw children working under age the age 14. The innocent children who must go to schools and seek knowledge were selling fruits, flowers and making French fries etc. Children, who are the flowers of heaven, they are the most beautiful and purest creation of God. They are the innocent inwardly and outwardly.

No doubt, they are the beauty of this world. Early in the morning these Children go to school for the sake of knowledge but there are also other children, those who cannot go to schools due to financial problems, they only watch others go to schools and wish to seek knowledge, they have been forced to kill their aspirations, dreams and other wishes, they are pressed to earn for themselves and their families. They are also a part of our society who has forgotten the pleasures of their childhood.

As a result, the majority of children works overtime for Rs 50 to Rs100. Earning/working in childhood is called child labor. Child labor is defined as a child is working during early age, he works or gives over time to labor, he works on a very low pay. (UNICEF) defines child as anyone below the age 18, child labor as some type of work performed by children below age 18. Hence, the rate of child labor has perked up to a large amount. International labor organization suggests poverty is the greatest single cause behind child labor. Child labor is a reality in Pakistan. Nearly half of all children are working. In many cases the parents of child labors cannot afford education for their children. Education plays big role in child labor. Child labor occurs in many different industries. One of the worst kind of child labor is domestic labor, because child labor is mainly a rural problem, domestic labor takes place mostly in cities such as Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi working children do not have chance to interact with other children, and the work is often unpaid.

Our government must invest more money in education system, because there is no better way to prevent child labor than to make education compulsory, and the government should pass a law declaring domestic employment hazardous, because there is strict need to stop child labor in Pakistan. Children suffer injuries that should not happen in childhood and they lose a very important thing; the opportunity to play and be with other children of their age.
